DownloadGeely EX5 Helper
App which enables access to Venus Vehicle Tool and other settings. It's a MUST to have it installed BEFORE updating the car OS software. Software update 1.1.6 removes the menu, this app is the only way to get into it. Without this app pre-installed, should you update to software 1.1.6, there would be no way to enable adb and install apps. Ver. 2.0.
Install and never delete it.
Telnet Service
Enables safe experiments with the car. Install before doing everything else. It's a way to get shell access to the car should you need to fix something and the car is stuck at black boot screen.

How to enter the Engineering Menu (Phone app code)
Open the Phone app and type #* followed by a 4 or 5-digit code. The code is calculated from the current date and time as: (Month + 5), (Day), (Hour). Use 12-hour format; for 10, 11, 12 o'clock, the hour is 0.
Example: 21 April, 7pm (19:00) -> #*9217. (April is 4th month -> 4+5=9).
Venus Vehicle Tool via the Helper app
Install the Geely EX5 Helper app from the collection above — it enables access to Venus Vehicle Tool and other settings without needing codes. Install it before updating the car OS software and never delete it.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Waze doesn't turn into night mode.
A: This has nothing to do with my patch. Apparently, it's a long-running bug in Waze where on some systems it does this. Now there is a patched version bundled with HUD Control that fixes it.
Q: Which app should I use for YouTube?
A: SmartTube works well. It uses swipe-based navigation (swipe from left and right sides of the screen towards the centre). Go to Player Settings and set Video Format to 720p avc. Anything with vp9 causes grey flickering.
Hardware Unlock Method #
For vehicles where software access is disabled, the free DIY unlock method is hardware-based: the centre console must be disassembled, the head unit accessed and opened, and specific pins inside the head unit temporarily jumped. For the inexperienced, the procedure takes 2-3 hours; for the experienced — less than an hour.
