Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Do OTA or dealer software updates remove the unlock or my apps?
A: No. OTA updates keep the installed apps and keep the unlock. That's been the case since the car was released, valid as of today.
Q: Can the car be fully reverted to stock state?
A: Yes. A factory reset plus an OTA update performed after that reset fully reverts the car to stock state. Note: a factory reset alone wipes the unlock, but Custom Profiles has an adb service toggle feature which survives factory resets and lets you enable app sideloading back.
Q: Can I just decline OTA updates?
A: Yes. OTA updates aren't compulsory — you can always decline or disable them, then your unlock will stay forever with no chance of any issues. At annual servicing you can just ask the dealer not to update the software.
Q: Is there a risk of bricking the car?
A: There's no risk of it getting bricked if you just install normal apps and don't do deep system modifications (root).
Q: Will it affect my warranty or servicing?
A: We don't know for certain whether it affects warranty, but because it can be fully reverted to stock state, we don't see how it would. When the system is unlocked, it can technically be detected, but so far no one has reported any issues with getting the car serviced because of it.
